“My greatest joy is to hear from God and do what He says”.
Prior to coming to FCC Dave served as the Founder and President of Parakletes Inc., a non-profit company that consults non-profits, businesses, churches, entertainment industry, city government, and schools in the Bay area. Parakletes means “Called Alongside”. It’s the New Testament equivalent of the Old Testament concept, “God is with us.” It’s also the name of the Holy Spirit. (John 14:16)
Before Parakletes, Dave served as the City Catalyst (Church Plant Director) for Vision360 in the South Bay/Peninsula Area from 2011-2013. The best part of Dave’s role at Vision 360 was his collaborative interactions with ministry, business, and domain leaders for the purpose of planting churches in the South Bay and Peninsula Area. (Northern California)
Dave’s first pastorate as Lead Pastor was at Great Exchange Covenant Church (aka GrX) from 2001-2011, where he and his ministry team planted five churches (3 directly and 2 indirectly). In addition, his team at GrX started an orphanage in Kenya, funded a road in Thailand, built a church in Cambodia, and placed a full time missionary in China. Convinced that the gospel changes everything, Dave dreams of the day when the entire Bay area and eventually the world are transformed into the likeness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dave received his Masters in Divinity from Talbot Seminary (2001) and did his undergraduate work in American History at Cornell University (1985). He also has a Masters degree in Education from Loyola College (1996) in Maryland. Dave loves to play sports, hang out with friends, read books on catalytic leadership, and eat steak and seafood, especially clams and oysters on the half shell.
Dave has been married to his lovely wife Helen for the past 23 years. They have been blessed with 3 awesome kids, Daniel (21), Maddie(19), and Elizabeth (14).
David Dang - Youth Pastor
David is originally from Orlando, FL and relocated to Lakeland, FL, to study business and ministry at Southeastern University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership with a Youth Ministry Minor. While he was a student at the university, he served as the Student Body President; overseeing the whole student body of 6,000.
David was raised in a Buddhist home, but he came to know the Lord through a private Christian school in the 5th grade. With no spiritual guidance from his family, the church became his home and family. Now, David has served in youth ministry for about 8 years. His heart is for the local church, to develop and equip leaders, and to serve the community. He is also very passionate about athletics and food, especially steak.
On March 03, 2017, David proposed to his fiancé, Desiree, and is getting married in October 2017.
